Our vision:
- Living without the hazards of pesticides
PAN Germany
- is strengthening the pesticide-critical competence
- clarifies the consequences of pesticide use
- supports consumer interests
- has an impact on politics and industry and
- promotes sustainable alternatives to the use of hazardous pesticides
Let us face the fact, that:
- our health is endangered by pesticides
- the use of pesticides is reducing biodiversity and is damaging the ecological system
Toxic pesticides are still the preferred products against damaging and annoying organisms in farming, households and in enterprises. But the negative consequences are clearly visible: Throughout the world one child, men or woman is being poisoned every minute. And the ecological systems are affected worldwide.
- That 's why PAN provides information on the effects of pesticide use.
The pesticide industry is influencing the behaviour of consumers through publicity, that plays down the risks. And they have seats and votes on political boards and committees at their disposal, affecting political decisions following their own particular interests.
- That's why PAN acts as a counterbalance to the strong influence of the industry
There will only be a pesticide reduction, if many people know about the negative consequences of pesticides use. Alternatives have to be made available.
- That 's why PAN supports ecologically reasonable, socially suitable and economically sustainable alternatives
PAN Germany is part of the international Pesticide Action Network. The international PAN was founded 1982 in Malaysia. Today the international PAN consists of more than 600 organisations in about 90 countries. Continental Coordination Centres are at work in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin-America und North America. The European Regional Centre is faciliated by PAN Germany und PAN UK.
